Prompts that bring a trip back when you read them later.
Photos capture what a place looked like. A travel journal captures what it felt like to be there. These prompts are for the sensory details and unplanned moments that photos miss.

Something that surprised me today
The market was louder and smaller than I expected. A woman at a spice stall kept pushing small pinches of things into my hand without asking and watching my face when I tasted them. She found my reaction to the cardamom funny. I have no idea what she was saying but the whole thing took about four minutes and was the best part of the day.
Why it works
Travel memories fade surprisingly fast. The sensory details go first. Writing them down on the day you experience them, even briefly, gives you something to return to that feels real.
